Zosia VanMeter is a powerful testament to resilience, systemic triumph, and the drive to lead with empathy. Born in the Philippines and brought to the United States as a toddler, Zosia was raised under the belief that she was legally adopted. However, at age 16, she discovered the devastating truth: she was undocumented and had been trafficked into the country as a child. Rather than shrinking into the shadows, Zosia courageously turned herself in to immigration authorities at 18. Facing the constant fear of deportation, she navigated a complex legal system to ultimately earn her U.S. citizenship in 2015.
Today, Zosia has transformed her profound personal struggles into a life of dedicated public service. As the director of the inspectional division for a large Massachusetts city and the board president of three nonprofits, she dedicates her time to empowering marginalized groups and ensuring community safety. Now running for State Representative in Massachusetts' 9th Essex District, Zosia is on a mission to shatter "concrete ceilings." She champions co-governance and compassionate legislation, proving that authentic leadership is built on bridging divides, checking egos at the door, and humanizing the challenges everyday people face.
