Michele Bosack:

Artist MishyB has been fine-tuning her urban spray-painting style for over 25 years. Before perfecting her craft, she worked in the film and television industry. A graduate of New York University, she successfully navigated the industry as a director and producer of live stage shows, including Mortal Kombat, MTV’s House of Style, and Jim Henson Productions.

A former New Yorker who lived everywhere from the Lower East Side to The Sherry-Netherland on Central Park South with her then-fiancé, John Henson, she eventually settled with her current husband in the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania. After raising her children, she returned to her creative roots and began painting. Her work is deeply inspired by her love of rap music, with each piece serving as a statement on urban culture. Her paintings leave the viewer with the sensation of being punched in the face, followed by a carjacking, and then a hug.

Her process is unique to the art world. Pieces such as "Face Down, Ass Up" and her portraits of famous rappers—including Ty Dolla $ign, Future, and the late DMX, all of whom own her work—are just a few testaments to her impact. When asked what she values, she states: "I can’t not paint; it’s what I am. Everything is a self-portrait. I want to MURDAH THE CANVAS." Her work is the product of blood, sweat, tears, and plenty of cursing and crying. Love it or hate it, you won’t forget it.
